Painting - Sturgeon, Full Moon and Flying Fish

Sturgeon, Full Moon and Flying Fish is an oil on canvas with a sturgeon and flying fish framed with weathered beach wood. The August Full Moon, or Sturgeon Moon, illuminates the sky and reflects on the water. You can see them leap out of the Eastern and Kennebec Rivers. Amazing creatures to paint, they are long-lived, late maturing toothless fish with without scales and armored with five lateral rows of bony plates called scutes.  Almost  harvested to extinction for their roe or caviar, they are now protected in USA.
